The Ins and Outs of LivePick

TGW Logistics designed LivePick with flexibility in mind so companies can adapt quickly to changing demand. Its modular structure is divided into two main areas—a source side for goods storage and a target side for 1:1 picking.

The Source Side

Storage and retrieval take place in LivePick’s source area. This innovative storage system provides unlimited flexibility and scalability to meet your throughput and storage capacity needs. The warehouse optimizes the use of vertical space with storage heights of up to 12 meters and offers high storage density with triple-deep configurations.

Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) move vertically and horizontally through the source side to retrieve goods stored in totes. Storage racks make it easy for mobile warehouse robots to reach stored goods, increasing retrieval speed.

After the source AMRs retrieve totes, they are moved to a conveyor system where the products are sequenced. Sequencing is the process of organizing totes to ensure the most logical and efficient packing order for delivery routes. This is an important step in goods-to-person automation, as sequencing speeds processing times, reduces errors, and makes the picking process easier for employees.

The Target Side

Once LivePick’s warehouse robots retrieve goods from the source side, they’re moved to picking workstations on the target side. The source goods meet the assigned target tote, which is delivered to workstations by TGW Logistics’ Quba AMRs. These mobile robots react to their environment using sensors and cameras, making them perfect for busy fulfillment centers.

Employees pick goods from source totes and place them in target totes based on the SKU and quantity displayed on a monitor. LivePick’s 1:1 workstations are designed with an ergonomic mat for comfort. Target totes with picked goods proceed to shipping, while source totes are automatically returned to storage.
