Control Systems Project Manager (M/F/D)*
As the Controls Project Manager you will ensure that projects are delivered safely, within budget, and with the expected quality to the satisfaction of the customer. You will maximise the order result of the project through professional and economical implementation of customer requirements.
You will be spending your time split across project sites across Europe and your normal place of work. When you're away, we prefer that you do one week on site, one week off to ensure a good work life balance.
What you'll be handling:
- Deliver the performance, deadlines, technology and cost targets for the control’s element of assigned projects
- Plan resource requirements in accordance with the project schedule
- Coordinate creative conversion of layout (drive divisions, stowage spaces) by collaborating with and communicating with customers, other departments, adjacent processes and suppliers
- Create specifications, including customer specifications and supplier specifications for Controls and MFR requirements
- Lead the technical management of System, Hardware, and Software Engineers assigned to the project, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budgets, and specifications
- Facilitate interface discussions with customers and develop specifications and clarification of control interfaces to third-party works
- Create the order for control cabinet construction
- Develop tender documents for purchased trades Controls (eg E-installation)
- Guide Commissioning Engineers both in-house and on-site, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and specifications
- Support on-site teams
- Organise and manage customer training sessions, including agendas, materials, and trainer coordination, in collaboration with the Project Manager
- Transfer completed systems to the Customer Support team, ensuring system information, documentation and training are provided
- Ensure the implementation of all relevant UK, European, Company and Customer standards
- Act as a deputy for Project Managers (when nominated) to ensure team members continue to work effectively and professionally
- Attend and participate in regular contract reviews with project staff to review planning and ensure any issues are identified and promptly resolved
- Visit supplier premises and construction sites to monitor progress and quality and plan for future work
- Identify and report variations to the Project Manager promptly, ensuring that information and associated work are processed internally and externally. This includes the preparation of cost estimates to recover any changes/variations
- Review periodically the specific project design and ensure internal feedback to relevant internal departments (i.e. Tendering, R & D etc.)
- Manage all aspects of subcontracted packages from order to final acceptance
- Attend customer sites where required to identify, analyse and rectify issues and faults relating to control system function
What you'll need:
- A relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and Project Management
- Strong experience in the design and delivery of controls systems
- Project Management experience gained within a project engineering environment
- Previous experience of site installation and management
- Skilled in using AutoCAD to understand mechanical and electrical drawings
- Ability to lead and motivate teams of people, both internal teams and sub-contractors
- Highly customer focused
- Shows initiative and is a decision maker
- Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Office, Navision, AutoCAD, MS Project and JIRA
- Specialised knowledge in sensor/actuator technology, control systems, and logistics
