Developer

(M/F/D)*

Under the supervision of the Development Team Leader, Technical Leads and Architects the role of the Developer is to implement functionality relating to features which make up the Warehouse Management System (WMS) solution of an Automated Warehouse. The solution is based on core software called WERX which is distributed across a range of components and languages relevant to the solution and is delivered in line with written specifications (Epics & PBI’s) and pre-established guidelines. The work is done within a team to deliver and commission a project on time and on budget and then support the project through the initial stages of go-live with the customer. The role offers working from home options, in the office or a hybrid of the two. Site work is mandatory when the project requires it for commissioning activities. Sites can be UK or EU based therefore requires staying a way from home on a rotational basis.

WHAT YOU'LL BE HANDLING

  • Utilise established development tools, guidelines and conventions including but not limited to
  • ASP.NET, SQL Server, Oracle, JAVA, PL/SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C# .NET, WPF and Azure
  • Implement new and extend existing features in the TGW WERX software stack
  • Enhance existing systems by analysing business objectives, preparing an action plan, and identifying areas for modification and improvement
  • Maintain existing software systems by identifying and correcting software defects
  • Create and work to technical specifications and test plans
  • Follow all development practices as outlined by the WCS Development Manager
  • Develop and test production level code
  • Work as part of project team on customer projects, ensuring delivery dates are achieved and discuss delivery and testing for implementation 

What you'll need

Essential
  • Strong JAVA and/or C# development skills, but experience in both is beneficial 
  • Knowledge of SOLID principles 
  • Experience with SQL (PL/SQL or T-SQL) 
  • Good understanding of Unit Testing 
  • Excellent communications & time management skills 
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout UK and Europe
Desirable 
  • Knowledge of/experience with Oracle databases (11g preferred) 
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle across agile development 
  • Previous experience of working in the logistics \ warehouse industry 
  • Working with container platforms such as Docker, Podman or Kubernetes 
  • Previous experience of working in a client facing environment
