Business Development Manager (M/F/D)*

As the Business Development Manager you will develop and manage business development activities for TGW Northern Europe in the United Kingdom market with a shared objective to ‘seek, find and identify’ relevant intralogistics projects in the ‘core verticals’ of apparel, grocery and industrial & consumer goods. 

You will use your proactive and energetic approach to identify and develop opportunities with new and existing customers. You will also develop strong relationships with the key consultants within the industry to ensure that we are considered for any projects within our targeted markets.

What you'll be handling:

  • Take responsibility for the business development activity, leads and opportunities across the UK in support of TGW Northern Europe’s sales pipeline 
  • Develop the requisite qualitative and quantitative leads to ensure annual order intake targets are achieved, in line with the “Annual Sales & Solution (SAS) Plan” 
  • Support and help develop the annual business development plan
  • Work closely with TGW Northern European and TGW Group marketing departments to ensure TGW is promoted and branded in line with the corporate strategy
  • Build, maintain and improve on new and existing client relationships in the core vertical markets
  • Screen business development leads and opportunities to ensure the sales team work on opportunities and bids where success can be measured with a hit-rate or success ratio of ≥70%
  • Be involved in ‘Go-NoGo’ and ‘Bid-NoBid’ decision meetings with the sales leadership team and sales projects managers
  • Work closely with TGW Northern Europe’s ‘Sales & Solutions Officer’ and the sales and business development support functions in maintaining live opportunity data within the customer relationship management (CRM) database
  • Collaborate with the Northern European Marketing & Communications Manager in organising and attending exhibitions, trade events and other media-based activities
  • Take an active role in collaborating with TGW Group, including Customer Unit synchronisation and industry manager interaction
  • Align with TGW’s Northern European Director of Business Development, Chief Sales Officer and or the Director of Sales in managing key opportunities / projects as required
  • Report on business development activity by KPI monitoring, to be included in the monthly Northern European report for TGW Group

What you'll need:

Essential

  • Proven track record in sales or business development within technical solution delivery 
  • Competent relationship development and people-management skills
  • Living in the United Kingdom
  • Pro-active attitude towards building a trusted network
  • Entrepreneurial thinker with an open-minded approach 
  • Prepared to travel regularly, occasionally across Europe

 

Desirable

  • Degree qualified in either an engineering or business-related field
  • Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics and intralogistics solutions 
  • Established network within the intralogistics market
  • Experience of multi-stakeholder sales processes
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems for managing client interactions and sales data
  • Experience in leveraging data analytics for lead quality assessment and reporting
  • Knowledge of buyer behaviour within a complex sales environment
