Jasco Expands Fulfillment Through Collaboration With TGW Logistics

Oklahoma City, USA

Expansion of fulfillment center

Founded in 1975, Jasco Products Company develops and supplies innovative consumer electronics and lighting goods. They provide omni channel distribution to their client base of home improvement stores, military installations, ecommerce retailers, industrial suppliers, and direct consumers.   In 2022, Jasco collaborated with TGW Logistics and an engineer-procure-construct company, Burns & McDonnell, to expand its fulfillment center in Oklahoma City. Their goal was to shorten their supply chain by integrating smart warehouse automation. In only a few months, TGW Logistics augmented the center and helped lay the foundation for Jasco’s future growth.

Our Project Goals

  • Improve ergonomics and limit the physical stress for workers who were walking over 10 miles a day
  • Reduce operating costs by optimizing processes and automated tasks
  • Set Jasco up for growth with a flexible system that can handle any scenario

How TGW Logistics Made Jasco’s Expansion Come to Life

Because Jasco sells to wholesalers, retailers, and direct consumers, creating an omni-channel solution that supported full- and split-case picking was essential. TGW Logistics also needed to incorporate warehouse automation controls and a robust shuttle system to support efficient picking.

An Efficient Goods Receipt Process

When incoming trucks are manually unloaded in the receiving area, cases are transported into the sorting loop via a network of conveyors. Employees manually stack the cases onto single SKU pallets, which are stored in the high-bay warehouse until they replenish the shuttle.

A Smoother Material Flow

Three SlotStax semi-automated palletizing workstations help streamline Jasco’s full-case wholesale and retail orders. At these stations, a palletizing robot helps automatically build, stretch-wrap, and label pallets for shipping. Workstations are at waist height, so operators don’t have to repeatedly bend and lift cases.

Automated Order Picking Systems

To solve for more efficient split-case picking of Jasco’s wholesale, retail, and direct consumer orders, Flash Pick was incorporated. This smart goods-to-person setup includes four aisles powered by our Stingray shuttle system, which stores products and transports them to PickCenter One workstations. These workstations are ergonomically designed to eliminate walking during the picking process, improving speed and order accuracy. Once picked, order totes continue to the packing area, where items are transferred into larger conveyable cartons, sealed, and labeled for tracking.

Warehouse Automation Software

TGW Logistics’ warehouse management software WERX helps Jasco oversee and optimize its fulfillment process. It also allows for real-time communication with the entire system. The software automatically converts source totes into order totes based on requirements and facilitates orders composed of over eighty lines.
