Coop’s Automated Grocery Logistics Guarantee a Fresh Product

The brain of Coop’s order fulfillment is the TGW Logistics WERX Warehouse Software, which ensures all processes run smoothly. It calculates the ideal stacking pattern of refrigerated goods while considering optimal filling levels, high stability, and short travel distances in supermarkets. 
 

Coop’s products are delivered in standardized plastic crates on roll containers. Once received, the stacked crates are automatically separated from roll containers and loaded onto trays. The trays are loaded with several units, depending on size. The trays are then stored in an automated shuttle system consisting of 60,000 locations.

Automated picking reduces the workload on employees in the refrigerated environment and provides for gentle material handling of sensitive goods. As a highly dynamic picking buffer, the shuttle warehouse has the necessary stock for approximately two days. Plastic crates required for shop orders are automatically retrieved from stock and transported to stackers. Warehouse management software optimizes the sequence and calculates the ideal stacking pattern. The stacks are loaded onto roll containers, secured and labeled for shipping, and transported via our KingDrive conveyor system to the goods issue buffer.
