Sustainability at TGW Logistics

Your Impact Matters

As a foundation-owned company, TGW Logistics pursues a long-term corporate strategy that combines business success, innovation and social responsibility. This strategy is supported by defined ESG targets, governance processes and environmental programs.

Part of our revenue is retained for research and development, supporting the continuous advancement of our logistics solutions. In addition, a portion is allocated to the TGW Future Wings Foundation, which supports selected non-profit organizations and social initiatives.

We also align our business activities with the principles of the UN Global Compact and its framework on human rights, labor standards, environmental responsibility and anti-corruption.

Our Holistic Approach

Our goal is to provide a comprehensive sustainability report by the end of the 2027/28 fiscal year. To ensure transparency, the data will follow the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), which supports consistent reporting. Published each year alongside our annual report, the data will help create a navigable roadmap to a more sustainable future.

With our Sustainability Roadmap, we are laying the foundation for a successful and sustainable future together. One thing is clear - sustainability is not a solo project. Only by working together can we achieve great things. This is precisely the message we want to convey with our guiding principle, ‘Your impact matters.’

Our Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

We’ve adopted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a collection of 17 global objectives aimed at addressing challenges facing societies around the globe. We’ve identified eight SDGs that apply to our company and have woven them into our sustainability roadmap.

  • Good health and well-being - We take measures to ensure the occupational health and safety of our employees.
  • Quality education - We donate a portion of our revenue to the TGW Future Wings Foundation, which helps young people realize their dreams through innovative educational programs.
  • Gender equality - TGW Logistics strongly believes that gender discrimination must end. We work to create a strong and trusting environment where inappropriate behavior can be reported without fear of prejudice.
  • Decent work and economic growth - We protect labor rights, promote safe and secure working environments, comply with labor laws, and commit to the principles of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
  • Industry, innovation, technology, and infrastructure - We use technology and expertise to drive growth, innovation, and efficiency while making affordable, sustainable logistics accessible to our global partners.
  • Responsible consumption and production - We foster sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources by using a circular economy model to reduce environmental impact along the entire product lifecycle.
  • Climate action - We work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts.
  • Partnerships for the goals - We maintain open dialogues with stakeholders to ensure we achieve sustainable initiatives.

Taking Action to Reach Our Goals

We’ve translated our SDGs into six fields of action to ensure we’re doing all we can to maintain sustainable operations internally and at our client sites.

Transparency, accountability, and reporting

We aim to maintain full transparency when reporting data to stakeholders. This includes clearly defining KPIs and responsibilities.

Decarbonization

We’re are supporting the European Union’s goal of achieving net zero by 2050. By setting ambitious targets, we are doing our part to contribute to a more sustainable future, helping drive positive change.

Circulatory and lifestyle approach

We consider the entire lifecycle of our systems while developing innovative solutions for our partners. Across our operations, we implement measures to reduce environmental impacts.

Value chain and stakeholder engagement

Our stakeholders understand TGW Logistics’ ambitions for a better tomorrow. Due diligence and supply chain resilience play essential roles in our value chain.

Integrity and diversity

Enhancing personal integrity in the workplace is crucial at TGW Logistics. We’ve created a work culture where inclusion and diversity are paramount.

Health and safety

We work to maximize health and safety to ensure our employees lead enriching lives - in and out of the workplace. This includes on-site safety measures such as noise reduction and design protocols that result in ergonomic workstations.

Enabling More Sustainable Warehouse Operations

At TGW Logistics, we recognize the critical importance of sustainability—not just because it’s at the core of our philosophy, but because it’s also essential to our partners. We also understand the challenges of achieving and maintaining sustainable operations while meeting customer demands. That’s why we’re committed to enabling sustainable business growth helping our partners strike the perfect balance between efficiency and ESG responsibility.

Our Energy Efficient Solutions

Our logistics systems include energy-saving features that improve operational efficiency. During low-demand periods, eco mode optimizes system speed, while standby mode can reduce energy consumption by up to 80% compared to stop mode. For longer operational breaks, the optional off mode powers down non-essential components, reducing energy consumption by up to 99% and residual power usage to less than 1 watt. This helps lower energy costs, reduce wear, and enable quieter operation, tailored to each customer's needs.

Sustainable Construction Methods

We practice DGNB Gold Standard construction methods, a globally recognized framework for assessing and certifying the sustainable nature of buildings, neighborhoods, and interiors. Our construction methods support environmental protection, cost savings, improved health and well-being, and social benefits. These practices align with our broader corporate goals, enabling us to promote long-term resilience throughout our operations.

Green Steel Projects

Using carbon reduced steel in our fullfillment centers can help lower the product carbon footprints. Depending on the production route, carbon-reduced steel has a demonstrably lower carbon footprint than conventionally produced steel, with CO₂ reductions ranging from approximately 60% to over 90%. Examples of technologies include scrap-based electric arc furnaces powered by renewable electricity and hydrogen-based direct reduction.

Product Carbon Footprint

Calculating the product carbon footprint provides valuable insights into the environmental impact of our products, enabling us to identify opportunities for improvement, enhance efficiency, and meet growing regulatory and customer expectations for sustainability. By understanding our carbon footprint, we can make data-driven decisions to reduce emissions, optimize processes, and contribute to global climate goals. At TGW Logistics, we have partnered with the renowned Fraunhofer Institute to ensure a precise and scientifically validated assessment, reinforcing our commitment to transparency and continuous environmental improvement.
